moulin rouge

i arrived back into paris around 3pm on friday and only had a few things i wanted to see before headed back to the same hostel i stayed in the week before, le village.

i really wanted to go to the catacombs but looking into it more i wasnt going to be possible.  i was really disappointed but im sure ill see plenty similar things along my travels.

i headed over to the cimetiere du pere la chaise and had a good look around.  the place was massive and i failed completely at seeing any famous tombs.  it was nice to walk around though and take in the atmosphere, it was so peaceful and had a sense of life about it in a stange way.

i jumped onto the metro to pagalle and had a good look at the area including the moulin rouge.

i stopped at a small cafe next door for a bite to eat taking in the atmosphere nicely.

i checked back into the village and this time it was totally different.  the room was rotten and the 'shower' well it was funny looking back.  it was a hole in the wall, the head had obviously fallen off and not been fixed.  i had a top bunk and it was comical trying to attempt to climb it!!  enough said.

i had an early start the next day for the airport so i wanted to try and find the best route.  walking around the gare du nord at night alone is not recommended.  it was really dark and loads of beggers were about snarling at me so i just snarled back  :o)

i was up at 3am the next day for the night bus to the airport.  it took me 50 mins to find the bus stop even after looking around the night before.  i finally made it and checked the next destination.

looking back im really pleased i made the most of the time in paris and recommend anyone to give it a go!
