arc de triomphe

my flight from newcastle was delayed a couple of hours which meant i didnt get to my hostel until after 12 on friday.  i wasnt complaining too much as the magners had already started to flow.  so as soon as i checked in it was pretty much straight to bed.  the hotel was nice and in a pretty pretty area, the sacre coeur was right behind it and i could see it from the terrace by the dorm.  i was sharing a dorm with 2 really nice girls and we had a laugh the short time i was there.  karin was from prague so she was giving me tips left right and centre for when i get there, then there was megan who was from san fran.

i got up early the next day to try and make the most of the time i had in paris before i got the train onto poitiers to meet the crew.

i suprised myself actually as id said before i left i wasnt that bothered about paris, after being before, but i bombed around-and suffered in the evening!!!  it was worth it though.

i headed for the effiel tower the most obvious of starts but the weather was really foggy so visibility was quite poor.  it adds an artist charm anyway!  then i took the route of the seine and followed that for ages and ended up at the place where diane died which was purely random.  it was an odd little place but im pleased i stumbled on it.

next was the arc de triomphe-i was just lining up the perfect shot and a kid decided to be sick next to me. grr!

i headed down the champs elysees, passing the only mcdonalds in the world not to have a yellow 'm'- a little fact i picked up the last time i was here (all the lights have to be white on this stretch).

i walked down to the concorde passing the grand palace and invalides on the way.

time was ticking so i headed back to the seine and came across the lovre (which ive never seen before so that was pretty good).  in the park nearby there was a funky wheel on the good but i didnt have time to take a ride.  i finally made it to notre dame after 4 hours of walking which went so fast, so i must have been having fun eh!  notre dame always makes me smile.  its a weird place but so beautiful at the same time.

i had a quick march back to the train station and it was off to poitiers for me to meet my parents and off to chateau macdonald.
