Lazing on a sunday afternoon
Our first impression was of an industrial city. There was a lot of inmigrants (we didn´t see that much of them in other cities) and, as it was sunday evening, there was nothing left to see. So, our visit to Parma can be resumed in ice-creams and short walks.
We wanted to see the insides of duomo and baptistery (very good scenery), but, as all shops and other churches, they were closed.
We also saw the inmense Duke´s park at the other side of the river, but we saw it very close to Madrid´s park of Retiro, so we didn´t go further, and went back to the Peace Square, with the grass full of people chatting and passing the day.
The general impression of the city wasn´t very good in comparison with Verona or vicenza. This was a big city with no difference between the old part and the new one. Maybe it was just the "is-sunday-and-there´s-no-people-around" thing, but it seemed to me a cold, bricked city, instead of a historical, marbled one of the Venetto.
