Leaving
My husband, and I along with our son had done the Disney cruise a few months earlier so we thought it would be fun to get the whole family together for a Caribbean Cruise! It was a LOT of work for my husband to organize but we all had such a fantastic time!
We all met up in Miami and boarded the Voyager of the Seas the next morning. At the time, it was the largest cruise ship in the world.
Boarding the ship was very exciting. It was so huge. We went to find our room immediately while my son talked with his aunt on the walkie-talkies.
Our room was so spectacular. We were impressed before we even walked in because we had a DOORBELL! We were just across the elevator hall from the Royal Suite and on the very top deck of rooms. We were living large and loving it!
We had booked a huge Suite! At one end was a beautiful large granite counter bar with wall to wall mirrored closets behind it. Beyond that was a sitting area with couch and chairs. A big bed and dressing table. Wall to wall windows and sliding doors led to a double length balcony that held a table and four chairs at one end, and a couple of lounge chairs at the other. VCR, DVD and Stereo system with surround sound and a bathroom with marble everywhere, twin sinks etc and it had the stereo system wired into it through speakers so you could soak in a bubble bath in the huge tub with your favourite CD playing. It was great!
We went exploring everyone else’s cabins and everyone had been equally excited about theirs. It was fun and the excitement was contagious.
The ship had been explored and lunch eaten. We set sail, away from Miami with Daiquiri’s in our hands and not a care in the world!
We had dinner in the most beautiful Dining Room that you will ever see. It was three floors with balconies opening up and overlooking the most extraordinary chandelier. We felt we had the best table in the room as well at the edge of the balcony overlooking the Captain’s table. It just shimmered and sparkled regally.
The next day we did some more exploring while we were at sea. Our son soon felt quite at home in the kid’s program. They had really fantastic activities for the kids from a Pirate Night to Wacky Olympics. He was loving every minute of his vacation and spending it with the likes of Ninja Nicole, Monster Melody and Shake & Bake Sheila.
While he seemed to always be off in the kid’s club, my husband and I had a lot of free time. We entered into a slot tournament in the casino with our Aunt and Uncle. The three of them were in the first round but none of them won it. I was in the second round and I won and got to go on to the finals. I didn’t win the jackpot but did receive a free t-shirt. It was lots of fun.
That evening was the Captain’s Formal Dinner. The most formal night of them all.
The dinner was lovely and our server Mary was wonderful. She doted on my little gentleman, who had planted himself each night at dinner next to Papa, regardless of what table his father and I were seated at. Eventually, he changed out of his fancy duds and went to be a kid again upstairs in the kid’s program until we would come and get him at ten p.m. While he was there we went to see a show at La Scala Theatre.
The next morning we arrived in Labadee, Hispaniola in Haiti. I ordered my room service for my son and I, and we enjoyed it each morning on the balcony overlooking the ports. It was paradise and life at it’s finest!
