One of the many monuments at the underground Salt Mines.
Today we headed out to the Salt Mines, 20mins away from Krakow. We joined an English-speaking tour and headed down the 300+ stairs(!!) to get 100m below ground. Our guide had a real sense of humour and told us many amazing facts and stories about the salt mines. Apparently we only went into about 1% of the mine during our 2hr tour. We saw 3 churches, one was absolutely amazing! It was all made of salt, right down to the chandeliers hanging from the high ceiling, and had incredibly ornate biblical carvings all over the walls! The whole church had been create over 70yrs by three different men who had worked on it in their spare time, after doing their day's work - talk about commitment! It was an absolutely beautiful, amazing place down there. Apparently you can hire this place out for weddings at US$1000 per hour!
After our tour was over, we found our way back to our Apartment and ended up having a snooze for an hour. Decided to pack our bags ready for our early departure tomorrow, then headed out for dinner. We wandered through the Jewish area again, and settled on a restaurant that had pretty average prices (as we were all starting to run out of our last zloties). Had a nice dinner there, eating, drinking and chatting, then wandered home for one last Vodka before bed!
