Waiting for the Sagano Sight-Seeing Train; next to these weird mythical creatures.

Today we took a scenic train ride on the Sagano Romantic Railway - I was actually a little disappointed because it really wasn't that pretty. Apparently we were not there during the right time. I did find the funniest bathroom sign here - it was a pictorial instruction on how to use eastern-style toilets (basically a toilet in the ground). (so funny). We then strolled along the Bamboo Path and inadvertently met an old japanese artist, selling postcards based on his original paintings. His artwork was so delicate, so breathtaking and strangely "modern". I bought a bunch of postcards and he was so cute and so pleased that I asked to take a picture with him. He was a lovely spirit - this was one of my favorite moments during this trip. We couldn't really communicate and our only bond was in our appreciation of his amazing skills and artwork - such a pure happy moment!

For lunch, we had Japanese-style Chinese food and it was delicious!!! Again the restaurant's name is in japanese but I took a picture of it.

After lunch, we explored Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka - two winding streets reminiscient of old Kyoto. There was one store that fashioned little animal or people figurines using cocoons from moths - quite extraordinary. There were so many adorable delicate little souvenirs to buy - it was difficult to control oneself. Afterwards, we went to the Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji Temple) - very beautiful and zen-like. Then, we went to see a kimono fashion show (this I could have done without)...Then we checked into the Biwako Hotel - my favorite hotel in the tour. Great modern looking baths. The keisikei dinner here was also much better than the one at the Atami... everything was so fresh and delicious and beautiful - almost too beautiful to eat ... almost.
