Lunch was a "western" style meal - pretty good, nothing special (pumpkin soup, steak, fish and sorbet). I also had a huge ice coffee (big mistake) because I had to ask the bus to get off the freeway so I could use the ladies room. It was either that or literally go in my pants (the horror!) - of course the moment I asked and the bus pulled over, 10 other passengers hopped off the bus to use the bathroom. Apparently everyone was suffering in silence, but my bladder was the smallest (or fullest). :) After my "embarrassing encounter" we got to Osaka Castle - impressive, but I admit I was getting a little tired of castles and temples... Seeing the time capsule was sort of cool.

At night, we had free time in Osaka so we tried a bunch of stuff (octopus balls, pork ramen, crepes).

Blowfish - I didn't try any but I heard it's good.
.. we didn't try the blowfish (my mom is a vegetarian; she only had the sushi at the fish market with me so I wouldn't feel alone eating sushi at 6am... moms are great).  We also shopping in the bustling arcades, where a very enthusiastic middle-aged man kept trying to engage my mom and me in conversation so he could practice his english.  This would have been fun, except he was a little creepy...

We spent the night at Ana Gate Tower Hotel Osaka

The next morning we headed back to Narita and explored the nearby temples and areas before our flight back to LA.  Sorry, no pics but the temple was lovely and there was a massive ceremony going on that we didn't understand.  We did sample more yummy pickled veggies and bought more cute souvenirs.  This was a wonderful trip and I'm glad I got to do it with my mom.  :)
