the diana memorial, tons of people there putting their feet in, awesome sight :)

so we started london off in great fashion.  we took virgin atlantic over and it was fantastic.  the food was great, the service was great and a nice way to start the trip in europe.  we landed in heathrow and took the underground to get to astor hyde park hostel.  with the help of a nice chap who happened to be coming home from a san deigo padres and new york mets series in new york was happy to help us out and was a nice small talk during the trip.  well we got to our hostel and it was huge.  the hostel must have had almost over 100 people staying there.  there were 6 floors, no elevators.  i had no problem cause i just had backpacks.  they were very helpful and the hostel was a place to sleep and shower and meet new people.

this really cool exhibit in hyde park that we got to check out. it was built in 2 weeks.
the breakfasts sucked there.  they served lukewarm milk, which tasted nasty with ceral.  however, everthing else about the hostel was great.  i would recommend it to anyone.

so while we were there we went and saw several major sights.  such as big ben and parliment, which ended up being my favorite building.  we went on a walk along the thames river and saw the london eye, street performers, a sweet interactive fountain and finally arived to the tate modern.  which was a converted manufacturing building of large ships into an awesome museum.  it had one of my favorite artists there, dan flavin who did some great work with light.  i wasnt supposed to take pictures, but i had to.  then there was this great exhibit on growing cities and the effects they are having on the world.

the one and only buckingham palace.
pretty intense study on the dozen largest cities in the world.  some other bigger sights we saw were the tower of london, westminster abby, buckingham palace, almost the changing of the guard, princess diana memorial, hyde park, trufalgard square, picadally circus and several other places.  i really loved london and all the people there.  they were really helpful and the tube was really easy to use.  the only drawback of london is that it is so expensive for americans to buy stuff there, even food since the currency exchange is double.  but i would consider going back and enjoying more than just 3 days there.  so i hope u enjoy my pictures and give thanks to my parents who provided me with an awesome camera that makes me look good :)
