Sheep in loose on an abandoned airstrip... and this is part of a B road...

Hustling to try to hit Tintagel, Boscastle, and Tintern Abbey in Wales in one day we drove hard down through Cornwall.  We had a decent road atlas and were quite certain we were headed the right way until our road led us through what looked like a pasture gate... and turned out to really be a pasture gate that placed us on an airstrip filled with sheep. So we turned around and went back, assuming we were wrong.  I ended taking us back too far, then we had to backtrack yet again only to find that we were, in fact, supposed to go through this sheep/air field.  Back on track we made Tintagel just before it opened and all was well.  Have since discovered this was RAF Davidstow Moor -- for some reason our directions sent us in at the upper left hand of the airfield around 11 o'clock, to an intersection then backout at 10 o'clock.... which could have been covered by highway without even entering... For the life of me, I'll never understand, but I'm glad all the same.  Am assuming the sheep are associated with the cheese factory we passed on the way in.
