Before arriving in England we formed a plan to rent a car to help us collect up furniture for Jen and also tour the country.  The closest rental center was in Ipswich so we took the train back and picked up our Ford Focus hatchback-- larger than we had assumed, but that turned out to be to our advantage.  Having settled upon a beautiful apartment on the High Street, we started trying to figure out what she'd really need and decided it would be smart to drive to IKEA... the closest of which was in Milton Keynes... The trip went smoothly despite a botched attempt to see Cambridge by car and a nearly fruitless search for food in Newmarket.  We stopped at several pubs which had just stopped serving food.  We ended up at one of those places that has a chain-restaurant type menu but the name of the place changes from town to town.  A large part of the place was a casino, possibly even an OTB parlor so we decided to sit in the back... and there we waited... and waited... and waited...  It was nearly an hour before I finally broke down and asked the senior citizens across the room how the place worked.  Apparently, if your table has a number on it you need to order from the bar... glad I asked!
