Happy Valentine’s Day! After Radha’s delicious banana pancake and honey breakfast, we boarded an open-sided Jeep and drove through the villages in the mist. It was an absolutely beautiful ride...mud houses, haystacks on stilts, and all the little kids would wave and yell their greetings to us, and everyone seemed to be outside, pumping water, going to school, etc.

We drove through another part of the Chitwan park, following the river, and saw more deer, wild boar, storks, eagles, a swimming crocodile gliding down the river, and a colorful kingfisher, then arrived back at the Royal Park Hotel, where they greeted us with black or milk tea.

Vijay helped Morgan and I arrange for one night hotel back at the Moonlight in Kathmandu for a discounted price.

Then free time for several hours - for a shower, and a little walk through town.

We met at 4pm and walked down to the river to see if possibly the rhinos were there for a drink, but they weren’t. But we did see several elephants and their mahouts walking along the path...a mama and a baby, and we saw a few walking through town.

We went to a riverside bar to have some drinks (Happy Hour! 2 for 1 drinks - surprise extra gin and tonic!) while watching the sunset, then went back to KC’s Restaurant to put in an order (food takes forever to get to the table) and walked behind the hotel to see the Cultural Dance show, which was very local and charming. The dancers kept getting the giggles, which was fun. We couldn’t understand a word the emcee said, her accent was so thick...well actually, a word here and there, so it was fun trying to figure out what the dances could possibly mean. Stick dances, some very high singing from the ladies, and a featured drummer for each. Our favorite was the peacock dance...a guy in an immense costume...he picked up a rose at the end and came into the audience and gave it to Sarah Jane.

Then back to KC’s Restaurant for a lovely dinner - fish BBQ for me...very moist and yummy, with garlic cheese naan.
