Hong Kong Island from our hotel window

Part of our six week tour through Asia, we went to Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan staying one week in the first three, three weeks in Japan. Hong Kong is amazing, we flew through the clouds into the airport, you see the peeks of the mountains and sky scrapers through the clouds, it looked like cities in the sky, no words can explain my love of Hong Kong, it's one of my favorite places on earth and I was heartbroken to leave it.

Our hotel was attached to the cruise port and was sitting on top of the mall. It was great, there was a grocery store, toys-r-us and all sorts of cool shops. We went to the Jade Market which was great! Little bit of everything, jewelry to carved figurines. Some of the vendors were making items right on the site.

The front half og Hong Kong Island from the peak, you can see Kowloon Island across the bay, they're all central parts of Hong Kong hooked by the under ground rail or by boat
It was great! Have tied knots in the necklaces. We bought so much there it was crazy! We also went to Kowloon park, where there are the evilest monkeys on earth! You think monkeys are cute and friendly right HA! Think again! They're thieves, they bite and they hiss. I saw a monkey sitting on an electric box so I turned to take a few shots cause he was so close, he sat for one then reared up and hissed at me, fangs! They have fangs. Beware of the monkeys! But, they are cute... just mean. There is also a path in the park that will take you to the damn over the reservoir which is lovely! There's a picnicking area but only locals who know how to handle the monkeys should use it!

We spent a lot of time on the Hong Kong Island.

Sampan boat we took a ride in, the driver was great and we got to see the city from a unique view we wouldnt have had otherwise
It's crazy cool, you walk above the streets and through the buildings on walk ways above the streets and parks. There are parks and trees everywhere, it's so much fun! On the other side of the island from Kowloon is the city Aberdeen where there are floating restaurants. We thought we'd just go over to see the sights and ended up walking the board walk along the side of the harbor, it's filled with boats, house boats, fishing vessels both big and large and there are these small boats called sampan and they're all over taking people around. One pulled up to us and asked if we'd like a ride. It must have taken hours and it's one of my best memories of my entire life. It lasted from duck till late into the evening and it was so lovely. They took Jim and I around the boats mored in the harbor and it was such a wonderful feeling.

People sitting playing cards, children playing on one with a soccer ball whilst their parents played a board game on the second boat, tied together, massive boats, small family boats. There were so many, they were a community, a lovely feeling of warmth, it was amazing. When we went out past the mored boats there were floating restaurants, restaurants that you could only get to by boat, some have private fairies, others you can drive up on your own boat and get a seat. They're all lit up, beautifully brightly painted. When we were finished they dropped us off where we'd gotten on and we took the bus back to the faerie terminal to go back to Kowloon Island.

On our last full day we went to the peak of Hong Kong island and viewed the sights, we took the peak tram (scary, fast and fun) down to the city and took an open top bus back to the terminal and went back to the hotel. Hong Kong is just breath taking. I have heard from a friend that lives there that since we've been it's become more polluted and a bit tatty in spots but still, if you ever get a chance go. I love it and truly believe this is just a hiccup and it will pick back up.
