White Sands

White Sands National Monument is a very interesting place to visit. It is the world's largest gypsum dunefields at 275 square miles of pure white sand. Bring your sunglasses if you wander the dunes as the sun reflecting off the sand is very bright. Bring sunscreen too. The dunes are home to more life than you may think, and there are some nice hiking trails through the dunes. Another of the fun things to do here, for kids of all ages, is to ride a plastic disk down the dunes.  The visitor's center has a nice look too. along with an informative film and nice museum displays. On this visit it was cold and cloudy so my visit was short but I enjoyed prior visits.  I may stop here again on the return trip to Arizona.  As it ended up, my time was short when I was traveling back through here so I did not stop.  Well, it is not that far from where I live so I can return on a short trip.
