Day 1: First Steps

Day 1 got a late start because I had a number of errands to run and a lot to do before I was ready for departure; but I was not going to wait until Tuesday to start my trip. I stopped at the library for some last minute information collection and to check in with my friends at Travel Buddy. I also needed to put my mail on hold, and grab a few last minute items at Walmart and a few other places. I had thoughts about driving to Tucson to check on a DVD set I wanted to buy myself for Christmas. I actually did not make the final decision to NOT go to Tucson until I arrived at the intersection with Interstate 10 at Benson. I stopped to run a couple of errands in Benson and say hello to a few friends then hit the Interstate headed east. The day was warm and clear and traffic was not very bad. It was pretty windy but my Charger cuts through the wind rather easily so it was no problem. I could have easily continued to drive to Deming or maybe even Las Cruces; but I opted to stop in Lordsburg, hit Kranberry's for an early dinner, and plan where to go tomorrow. I opted for the Econolodge instead of my usual stay at the Motel 6. As usual there is not much to say for a Day 1 since I have toured almost everything in close proximity of Sierra Vista
