In the bus to the national park
Day 4, Marsa Alam, Egypt
On the 4th day we went on a snorkling trip to Sharm el Lolli wich means "the bay of the pearl". We had to get up early and wait in the lobby. There we were picked up by a small bus together with some other tourists from the resort. The bay of the pearl was situated in a national park and the beach was beautiful. It looked like the beach of some tropical island that u see in the commercials! You can see the beach in the pictures. There were some very huge, very pretty seashells in the sand. The reef there was much bigger than the reef in the bay near the hotel.
The corals were really big but the fish here were much smaller than the fish near the hotel! We did see a very pretty fish I think it was called a Scorpion fish. It had organe stripes and a lot of tentacles. That one was very pretty! It was hiding out in between of the spikes of some urchins near a rock on the oceanfloor. Wat was really nice were the little jellyfish in the national park. They didn’t really sting but you could feel them just pricking a little! They were so pretty! Transparant with a little bit of purple in the middle. Especially near the coastline where the water was shallow there were a lot of those. At one point I was surrounded by maybe twenty jellyfish. But they were really small and cute :). After snorkling we had a drink and after that we left the national park to go to another location. While we were snorkling some women came from the dessert area to sell some of their items to the tourists. They looked amazing, same goes for the children who were there aswell, just very beautiful children! While driving trough the dessert landscape we saw a herd (I think the word is herd) of Dromedary Camels passing by.
Snorkeltrip Bay of the Pearl
We went to the divers camp Awlad Baraka. Its more of a camp with small cottages, or not even cottages I dont know how to explain. Its very basic but a great place to stay for divers I think. From there you can go on the water with small boats to go to some good spots for diving. When we arrived there we first had lunch. It was a great lunch with fresh fish and vegetables! There was this very funny blue coloured fish on my plate also I dont know what it was really but it tasted great! After lunch we all stayed at the beach for a while untill it was time to get to the boats.
The boats took us to the other side of the reef. The reef started immediatley at the coastline but it was all rocks there. You could not enter the water from there. So the boat took us to the other side and from there we could get into the water for some snorkling. The reef there was amazing! So big and gorgeous with all the different colours. That was really amazing! I felt so tiny compared to the huge colours! How I love mother nature! I saw some really big fish there, way bigger than I had already seen near the hotel. I also saw some eels wich I thought were really impressive. It was a very nice experience. We swam all the way to the other end of the reef and got back in the boat after that. The boat took us back to the shore and we all went into the bus to get back to the resort. It had been a great day! Maybe for divers and experienced snorklers (Is snorklers the word for that?!) it wouldve been boring but to me it was a great adventure :).
Sharm el Lolli
After a nice hot shower we went to the restaurant for another great dinner and after that we went to bed right away and fell asleep within a minute!
