I enjoy doing what is called "Photoshopping". This blog and all of the entries will be of original photos and then results of what I have done. I do it all for fun and if you'd like me to do one (or more) for you, just let me know. Enjoy! :)

Shadows can sometimes be just too heavy.

Azura (azuresky12) got in touch with me about a couple of shots she wanted “fixed”.  It seems the sun didn’t want to cooperate with her while she was in Madrid and the shadows end up too heavy.  She asked me to work my magic on them and told me where to find them.  Well, it was only supposed to be two pictures, but as I looked at the other shots in that blog I grabbed a couple of more and went to work.

One of the things I noticed was that as the lighting changed, somehow the people disappeared, a strange phenomenon that happens ever once in awhile on my photos.

Thanks for the great comment on my write-ups on shadows and lighting. And don’t feel bad about a 2 megapixel Canon camera, that’s one I’ve used and would still have if I hadn’t moved up to one with Image Stabilization. My newest one is 8 mega pixel but that just means that the photos take more room to store, and are more detailed if you print them out in large format.
The software I use that is not expensive, in fact some is free off the internet, and my only secret is that I practice and of course being very detail oriented helps tremendously.

I really enjoyed reading your write-up about shadows/photo restoration. I'm not a photographer (I still have a 2 mexapixel Canon camera) but liked seeing the lighting differences and am so surprised at how much of a change there is before and after...wow! It's amazing some of the little things you can take for granted like...light.
