Puyallup Tribe Pow wow

Went to the pow wow this afternoon.
Arrived just in time to see the tail end of a crow hop.
Good drumming, good singing.
Good weather.
First thing I did was go for fry bread.
I've had better.
I could taste baking powder, and my niece said it was salty.
Still, it was fry bread.
There was a memorial.
Then I checked out the vendors.
Some good t-shirts, new designs, new slogans.
I didn't see any Tlingit designs, but I really didn't expect to.
An outdoor pow wow really feels good.

Within the traditional Puyallup tribal territory

I'm just a few miles from the tribal headquarters.
Recuperating from the ferry trip.
Sleeping on the deck is hard, and sitting up sleeping is just a bit better.
When I ride the ferry on my nickel I don't pay the hundreds  of dollars extra for a stateroom.
I'm here to drive my daughter KM's car to Michigan.
Last year I drove a U-Haul truck for another daughter, AJ, and her husband N and daughter J.
Along this same route, I-90 east.
Weather has been the usual for here, nice, warm, lots of sunshine.
Very different from what I left behind in Juneau.
Joined AAA, bought a CB radio, my niece washed the car yesterday.
I'm just about ready to drive out.
But, I am waiting for the holiday week end to be over.
I don't want to be on the road right now.
Plan to leave Tuesday morning.
Later.
