Bopping about downtown

We started the day by visiting the President Taft National Historic Site (his childhood home).

We started the day with breakfast at the Spoon & Cellar, the adjoining restaurant to our hotel, and plotted out a lazy Sunday.  Neither Laura nor I had planned beyond the blues fest last night, but that is not a difficult task when you find yourself in the heart of a major city.  What evolved over omelets was dropping in on President Taft’s boyhood home (only a mile from the hotel and part of my mission to conquer all of Ohio’s presidential sites), followed by lunch at Findlay Market, Cincinnati’s renowned public market, also nearby in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

Both sites were enjoyed, and we discovered a pleasant cheese shop, The Rhined, just across the street from Findlay Market, where we shared a cheese plate for lunch.

Findlay Market is Cincinnati's premier public market and we enjoyed, though it was packed to the rafters on a glorious Sunday...
All these places earn separate reviews, below, and the weather could not have been better: sunny and not too hot.  We only took one car and Laura was behind the wheel, resulting in a minor dilemma.  Parking is hard to find around Findlay Market and tight.  Pulling out of the parking space, Laura hopped the curb and it tore the front panel over her wheel well off.  I jerry-rigged things together, though clearly a short term solution and being Sunday, options were sparse for getting quality assistance.

Laura needed to drop me at the hotel so I could hop in my car and I suggested we check there to see whether one of their maintenance guys could help.  This worked about as well as could be hoped.  The front desk quickly rounded up a crew member who wound up fetching some tie-tacks to secure the panel back into place.  We departed then in different directions and I Laura made it back to Indy, getting permanent repairs the next day.
