Nador to  Ifrane (Just outside Fes)

450 miles

This was a bit of a nightmare day. |Not how I expected to spend my first day in Morocco. Two other teams decided to go to a garage to fix their cars. We thought we would go along and ask about our broken window. We ended up sitting around until gone midday. I wanted to get going but couldn’t leave the other team alone in case their car broke down.

When we did eventually get going the Norwegian guys we were travelling with were nervous about the condition of the different types of road.

Once again we ended up following them a very long way around to get to Fes. It was ridiculous and we could have saved hours by taking a more direct route. The aim was to get to Marrakech, but that was never going to happen. We finally arrived in Fes after dark and spent 2 hours looking for a hotel. We couldn’t find one and so headed of on the main road to Marrakech in search of one. The first town we came to had a really good hotel, but it was like down town Baghdad! The hotel manager said that if we paid this old man some money he would watch the cars. I would not even consider this option. We would have woken in the morning with nothing but a shell of a car. So it was on the road again. We finally stumbled across a motel at about 11pm. It was in the middle of nowhere and thankfully the rooms were great. I was not in a good mood. I didn’t do this trip to follow others around the main roads. You would not go to London and only drive around the M25.

Im glad this day is over and look forward to a better day tomorrow.
