Last day in Cabo

The last clouds are leaving

Our last full day in Cabo.  Almost everything was back to normal. The internet was still out, so hubby and I decided it was time to add the international plan to our cell coverage.  For an extra $10 per day we were connected to the world once more.  After a quick dip in the big pool we were able to go back in our little pool as well. The staff of this establishment was really working to get thing up and running again. We said good bye to some people who had braved the storm with us, only to have them return 2 hours later with long faces. They were unable to make it to the airport. Say WHAT??? Not good, not good at all. So for the rest of the day we were stressed out about that situation. I tried to reach out to our shuttle service to see if they were coming early than was necessary under normal circumstances.

Are we going to be able to fly home? Yikes
Nothing. Never answered my emails or phone calls. (to this day, 10 days later).  From the couple we heard what the rest of town looked like. Mudslides. Everywhere. Washed out streets. Traffic going nowhere.  They had made it less than 3 miles in 1 ½ before they turned around.

After some discussion we decide to book a different form of transportation through our hotel. A private car was going to pick us up at 8:00am Sunday (instead of 11:00am when the shuttle was scheduled to arrive).

We took one last stroll down to the marina for some last minute souvenir shopping and picking to pick up some cash for our shuttle in the morning. I ended up getting myself a fish spa treatment. I had done this before on our previous trip to Thailand.
Ben was getting ready stick his feet in too. The lady was not having it.
It was as marvelous as I remember it. Ticklish for the first 30 seconds, but then more like tiny electro shocks therapy. Very rejuvenating. Ben wanted to stick his feet or hands in so badly. The lady was not having it... Must not have children. Whatever. I wasn't going to pay another $25 for 10 seconds of entertainment. Not.going.to.happen.

Our last evening brought us back to our favorite seafood restaurant. We were happy to see that the place had survived the storm. It lies pretty sheltered on the side of the same mountain our villa was on. We talked to the owner for a bit. Thanked him for being open despite all the work that had to be done around the area. All the servers were outside sweeping the sidewalks and road for the entire block. The old lady that had been sitting in her rocking chair right next door was sadly missing. She always cheered up when she saw Ben skipping up the road.

We walked backed to the hotel braving the steep road up at least once during our stay. No golf cart this time.  Ben was not a big fan of the rocky ride anyways.

Still no internet or cable when we got back to the room, so we all went to sleep early, so we would be ready in the morning to hopefully get out to the airport for our scheduled flight. The airport had been open all day, but lots of people didn’t make it out there at all.
