So he found the pool 5 seconds after we arrived. That must be a record

EDIT: Don't miss the hotel review on the bottom of the page.

We landed in Cabo at 1:00pm local time.  Time difference between California and Baja Sur is only one hour.  Another reason why I chose Cabo as  our first vacation with Ben.  Toddlers don’t time change well.  Our shuttle with Gray Line Cabo was booked through Expedia.  Now they warn you about not to talk to anyone inside the airport, but I honestly think it’s impossible. Especially if it’s your first time to Cabo. EVERYONE is trying to sell you a timeshare. IT’S NUTS!  We were taken to two separate desks. Each saying they were from Grey Line.  None of them were. They just try to find out where you are staying and try to get you to stay with them instead.

He tried to climb this wall every time we walked to our room. The hotel sits on a steep hill. This is between the lobby and the rooms
It’s honestly super annoying. I jokingly told my husband that I wonder why I even bothered to book a hotel if they literally try to push 10 places on you the minute you get past immigration and customs. Avoiding this situation is hard since there’s a space specifically designed for this practice and it’s a bottleneck. You cannot get past them.  Maybe just say you already own a timeshare and that’s where you are headed. They probably wasted ca 15 minutes of our time, but we did make it through without selling our soul. Haha

We finally made it outside the doors where there are at least 20 people from various transportation firms planted between you and the parking lot. I kept looking for the green polo that the guy was supposed to be wearing.

So yeah, there's a mini dipping pool on our balcony. LOVE
Well, they were more white than green and it really only was a lime green square at the bottom of the shirt. *sigh* The Grey Line signs were honestly easier to spot. They told us to go get a drink while they arrange for the van, and the rest of the people who would be sharing our shuttle to arrive.  (Conveniently there’s a bar right by the taxi stands.) This was the cheapest option to get to anywhere near Cabo. $84 round trip. Taxis are $90 one way, and other companies charged more as well. (We never did get to take our return ride with them, but more about that fiasco later.)

We got on our shuttle and got to see all the wonderful places that the other 3 couples had booked. All of them in stand-alone all-inclusive resorts. Not my kind of vacation.

Maybe if you really don’t want to experience anything of the country you’re visiting. Our ride ended up taking way over an hour since we were the last people to be dropped off. That was okay though, since Ben passed out as soon as we started driving. It was his naptime after all. He didn’t even wake up when the driver grounded the van on the steep hill that made up our hotel’s driveway. At the gate he talked to the guard and we were promptly unloaded at the bottom of the hill.  A golf cart took us the rest of the way. It was a pretty bumpy ride and very, very steep. I told my husband that he would not be able to take on that hill in his low profile car either. He would have gotten stuck for sure.

We hadn’t even checked in yet before Ben spotted the pool and nearly ran right in shoes and all.

The view over Cabo from our balcony
Haha Not 3 minutes after he woke up from his nap. He hadn’t seen the best part yet though. We were shown to our room. Ben was really enjoying the whole layout. We rode the elevator up to the third story. Our room was right next to it, but this turned out not to be a noise problem at all, since it was backing onto our kitchen.

When I booked this hotel the only thing I wanted really was a separate bedroom from a sitting room. So I searched for a “suite” type room on www.booking.com  and this was one of the cheaper options still available the week leading up to the American holiday Labor Day.  What opened up to us when we opened the door was pretty much way more than I expected.

The main pool
This was a two bedroom apartment with 2 ½ bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, large living room with a dining room, and a balcony bigger than my living room at home with a PRIVATE DIPPING POOL on it. Say whaaaaaaa????? I know what you’re going to ask… how did I not know? Well, the description was iffy on what we were going to get for the price except breakfast and 2 beds. I figured it would be a separate bedroom with 2 beds. NO. 2 king sized bedrooms. Have I mentioned the view? The view is EVERYTHING! The only thing better would have been a view of Cabo’s famous arch, but we were less than a mile from that anyway.

For dinner we walked to the seafood restaurant Las Mariscadas that was recommended to us by our hotel concierge. This ended up being our favorite restaurant this trip, and we ate there a total of 3 times in 7 days.

After Ben was in bed we ended up watching the season finale of Game of Thrones on our Amazon Firestick that the husband snuck in the bag when I wasn't looking. I can't be mad about it. The episode was freakin awesome, and the cable was all but 4 English channels, and 3 of those are news channels, which my husband is not allowed to watch due to his blood pressure. ;)
