A road trip to Netherlands is an easy task as we live closeby. We loved coming to different places in Netherlands. We decided to visit Zuid Holland (south Holland) but first we'd like to see Utrecht - is quite a while since our last visit to this city

We leave on saturday morning, Utrecht is more than two hours away - is a quiet morning, no traffic on Belgian road, but once entering on the border where the highways split in different directions we had traffic. Not a usual thing on weekend, we're pushing for almost an hour. Thus it took us more than three hours drive to Utrecht.

We arrive in Utrecht around 11 am, very busy.  Coming with car is maybe not the wisest way, but is the easiest way as we are planning to visit other cities on this trip.

I've done some research on parking garages - I found a few of in the city - is not really cheap but is the best spot to park your car and is safe.  When we arrive in Utrecht we knew already where to parked, we drove straight to Hoog Catharijne 2.50€ for 30 minutes - is underground parking, not very cheap to park but is centrally situated. Above is Utrecht train station and shopping malls.

Since our last visit I noticed there are some new buildings added like shopping malls inside train station, before it was just a small building, and now this shopping mall is much bigger and they're still expanding. Unbelievable how the city progressing the last years. I think coming on saturday is likely the same on weekdays - most people go on shopping, thus expect the crowds.

From the station where we parked the car we walk to the canal areas. The city of Utrecht is compact easy to explore on foot. Same as Amsterdam you can do some boat trips around the canal for 8€ an hour. Kayaks are also available for rent. Utrecht is a beautiful city, I prefer this place than Amsterdam - of course each city in Holland has its own charmed. And were so lucky with the weather - sunny and dry
