What to see:

1st four musts:

Trinity College.
St Patrick\'s and Christ Church Cathedrals
St.Stephen\'s Green

Also Merrion Square,Iveagh Gardens,
George\'s St Market National Museum, Library and Gallery

Hugh Lane Gallery, Kilmainham Gaol

Temple Bar
(by day or night, but can be too much in evening, is very expensive and a tourist trap).

Some pubs: The Long Hall, Mulligans, Grogans, The Cobblestone (best place in Dublin for traditional music)

To eat: Pubs weekday lunchtime. O\'Neill\'s Suffolk St. Dog House in Howth. Leo Burdocks for Fish&Chips - in city centre and in Howth.

Other beautiful places near Dublin easily accessible by DART commuter train. North: Malahide. South: Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey, Killiney, Bray and Greystones.

After 2-3 days in Dublin, I very highly recommend visitig other places in Ireland such as Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, Aran Islands, Killarney, Belfast and the Giant's Causeway, Westport and Achill Island, Strandhill near Sligo.

See my other blogs on this site for more details.
