Sleeping in a haunted Castle
Wednesday would be our only night staying in Northern Ireland at BALLYGALLY CASTLE HOTEL which was reputed to be haunted. I was slightly nervous since it was my turn to be by myself but excited. My room had peach colored walls and a view of the haunted tower and part of the town. It is haunted by Lady Isobel Shaw who knocks on different rooms doors and disappears. She was locked in a room and starved by her "loving" husband. haha She then lept from a window and died. I would haunt the place too if I were her! It was built in 1625 with walls 5 feet thick. It was sold twice and now is part of the Hastings Hotel group. We had a wonderful dinner here which consisted of chicken and we sat with an Australian couple. The chocolate dessert wasn't bad either.
After dinner, Suzi, Leann and I ventured into the haunted tower part. We climbed the stairs (where their are rooms available here too) to the top room where Isobel Shaw was kept. The white walls had a picture of her and her old bed had white sheets. It was a small room and sort of quaint but creepy. By this time, it was time for me to go to my room by myself. By now it was dark and I was slightly scared so I did what any other person would do! CALL HOME! lol I talked to my grandparents and told them about the hotel. It was great to hear their voices and I felt better. Of course I had a hard time sleeping, awaking to every single noise I heard. I want to say some of those noises came from the ghost of Isabel but there was no knocking. At least I didn't hear any! I awoke in the morning safe and sound nonetheless and joined my friends and group for breakfast and a stroll around the gardens of the hotel. :)
