Staying with Ant in Porirua

Belinda dropped me in town this morning for me to go on a Lord of the Rings tour around Wellington. The guy picked us up and then we drove around for about 3 hours to various scenes of the movies. Unfortunately I deem this to be a monumental waste of time and money as often it was just a tree, or some grass, or the confluence of two valleys that you could visibly see in a scene but most of which had been CGI-ed over. I felt a bit cheated, it was laughable.
The guy dropped me in town and I headed up to the Botanical Gardens via the cable car. The gardens were beautiful and I got quite lost on the beautiful slopes that seemed to wind back down to the city. Ant called me at 3pm to say he was coming, and I thought it would be an easy matter to get out of the gardens and walk back to town but 15 minutes later the path had taken me through a cemetary and over a motorway before putting me down on the other side of town.
It was great to see Ant; I haven't seen him for about 4 or 5 years since university. We drove back to Belinda's to pick up my stuff and then on to Porirua, a suburb on the outskirts of Wellington. He and his fiance have rented a tiny 2-bed prefab box over-looking the beach for about $12/week! The beach is good for surfing and is littered with Paua shells, so the house is decorated with art made of driftwood and shells as candle holders. They had her brother and friend over for dinner, after which we played the Flour Cake game where you place a piece of chocolate on an upside down bowl of patted-down flour and cut slices from it. Whoever cuts it when the chocolate falls has to try and pick out the chocolate with no hands, at which point the other players should push their face further into it!
