We had a late pick up time today of 11.30am but as usual our lie-in was wasted on account of us getting in so late! We stopped first at the World's Steepest Street; Baldwin street in Dunedin and walked to the top. Barry and Lukas decided to race up it - loonies. After that we really only had a long drive today back to Queenstown, 350km away, peppered with short toilet stops, cafe stops and photo stops. The second part of the drive along State Highway 8 was the most spectacular scenery I've seen yet in New Zealand. People were surprised that I said that on the basis that we have seen so much beautiful scenery already, but the gorgeous ochre mountain scenery we snaked through is definitely a highlight for me.
Finally we got back to Queenstown and met up with Paul who we left before for him to find a job. We all went for Thai at '@ Thai' which was fantastic for service, food, drinks, location, style and price. I had a honeydew melon frappe which was delicious, and you could buy whole coconuts and have fresh coconut juice. We then bought a few more beers and warmed up a bit more in the common room of our hotel before heading out to Altitude again with another girl in our hostel room, and said goodbye to our bus driver who has been with us all the way from Auckland.
