I started the day off wonderfully; after a blissful sleep in a quiet empty room I woke up early and pottered around doing the sorts of things I didn't realise I never have time for when we are constantly checking out, unpacking and re-packing, trying not to wake other sleeping hostelers etc. At around 9.30am Esa and 'Nin popped round and we made arrangements to get ready for a relaxing day on the beach. Sadly, it was not to be, and 'Nin came back round around 10am to tell me her car had been broken into and that Megha's bag had been stolen and some of her stuff off the back seat. We reported it to the police but it became clear that the hostel owner's son knew something about who had commited the crime and after putting some pressure on him he admitted he returned with information about the whereabouts of some of the dumped items. So we walked to the beach and spent a couple of hours searching through the bushes and managed to recover some of Megha's clothes and some of Nin's toiletries. When Megha arrived thankfully she was calm about it all, and just pleased to have some clothes returned since she had only the clothes she'd been standing up in for 3 days in Noosa! We were all quite subdued but had a swim in the pool in the afternoon and then attended our briefing about Fraser Island and shopped for food with our new group; 4 Germans and us. It was frustrating with the German couple barely speaking English and the remaining 2 mostly speaking in German but we were pleased when our shopping bill was only $6 over our budget. We then brought everything back to the hostel and went to bed early ready for an early start next day.
