Darryn and my birthday cake!
My 26th birthday was just another day in my year off like Christmas, New Year’s and Thanksgiving, but if I have to give up those 4 days for every day being a holiday, so be it. I'm willing to sacrifice that. My birthday was actually a chill and awesome day. The night before Darryn and I stayed up until 3 am watching downloaded copies of Chuck. I was so excited to catch up on my favorite TV shows. Luckily, Darryn just went on sabbatical when I got there so he had some free time. I woke up early at 9am (thanks to my weird body clock) and decided to watch the rest of the Chuck episodes and start on the Gossip Girl ones. Darryn, who is a champion sleeper, was still in bed, and when I roused myself at 1 pm to take a cold shower (the hot water was broken, although hardly necessary in sweltering Singapore), he was not home.
He came home twenty minutes later carrying a delicious (I'm talking ambrosia good), moist chocolate cake with candles for my birthday. What a sweetie! I seriously think Darryn is one of the most amazing people I know.
Happy face - yums!
After a hearty breakfast of chocolate cake, we headed out for lunch at a yummy dumpling place and walked around the humungous shopping center that is Singapore. Unfortunately for most of the population, my birthday is Valentine's Day and Darryn had to buy a gift for his girlfriend so we went shopping. At around 5pm, we parted ways and I headed to sate my Western movie appetite with Jumper.
(By the way, you can give that a show a miss and just search the internet for still shots of Hayden Christensen's abs.) I then returned to Mitsukoshi basement (my heaven) to buy random delicious sushi, fruit (Korean pears), and mochi for my birthday dinner. After figuring out the bus system, I made it back to Darryn's and enjoyed a quiet night of food, laundry, and Gossip Girl episodes. Fun! It really was a good day.
