It was weird to be back in an English-speaking (and the Queen's English to boot!). It literally hurt my head to speak and think in English again. Or, it could have been the bottle of scrumptious Rioja red that Patti and I downed on my first night in. I have to agree with Patti, first nights are always great. Even though we haven't seen each other in more than 3 years, we caught up and reached level 5 as if we saw each other every day. That's the great thing about sorority sisters. Patti and I, of course, found the time to go out like we did in college! Hello, beer bong!
Not many milestones to note, but I had a wonderful time catching up with Patti and a few other friends in London. Having worked in an international firm where many people were swapping offices like I did to Sydney, I had met some amazing people from the London office. I caught up with a few of them (all having moved on to bigger and better). In a very full-circle way, I hung out a few times with people who I had met during my previous travels, including Paul from the Galapagos and Mike from Cambodia.
This was my 3rd time to London so I didn't feel the pressure to do sightseeing. It was quite liberating to just relax and hang out with friends.
