Number of days on the road: 13. Number of states driven through: 13. Number of miles traveled: over 5700. Number of speeding tickets: 3. The cost of driving cross country: priceless! My cousin and I "took the long" way so that we can see America. Here is my retrospective of that adventure which I would like to share with the TravBuddy world.

Santee, South Carolina

Our accomodations in Santee was th Best Western Santee Inn.  The decor was not an homage to the interior design gods, but what you do get for under $72/night, in addition to the beds, bathroom and TV,  are free high-speed internet, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a complimentary continental breakfast.  The real selling pont for the Best Western Santee Inn was its swimming pool.  We took the opportunity to swim under the stars.   I was totally amazed at how the stars were much brighter outside the big city!

The Best Western Santee Inn was a decent place to stay. The amenities available...cable TV, free high-speed internet, microwave, refrigerator, and free continental breakfast...are pretty much standard nowadays. The pool has a nice atmosphere for relaxing especially on a hot, muggy summer evening. The Best Western Santee Inn would be a great place to stay for golfers visiting South Carolina as there are 3 golf courses within a 5 mile radius...one, the Lake Marion Golf Course, is just next door!
