Number of days on the road: 13. Number of states driven through: 13. Number of miles traveled: over 5700. Number of speeding tickets: 3. The cost of driving cross country: priceless! My cousin and I "took the long" way so that we can see America. Here is my retrospective of that adventure which I would like to share with the TravBuddy world.

Home of the King!

Yesterday was a LONG day with much activity. Today was ALL driving. We left the Asheville area early morning while the air was very cool and there was still a thick low-lying fog. "Westward Ho!" on Interstate 40. About an hour and a half in, it was goodbye North Carolina...Hello Tennessee!

After 7 more hours of driving, we drove past Knoxville and Nashville and into Memphis...to see Graceland...Home of the King...the 1 and Only Elvis Presley! We were on a tight schedule as well as on a tight budget so we decided NOT to fork over $$$ to see the exhibits of the King of Rock 'N' Roll.

We did do a drive by of the Graceland area. We got a view of the Heartbreak Hotel and the top view of one of Elvis' planes...I think we saw the Lisa Marie. The actual mansion is located at 3734 Elvis Presley Boulevard. I illegally parked on the side of Elvis Presley Boulevard while my cousin jumped out of the car and took a decent photo of the mansion while the gate was open to let a tour bus in. After paying brief respects to the King, we were off again on the longest driving leg of our cross country road trip.
