Bodie Island
August 4, 2006
After our trek from the beach, we sought for refuge from the hot and sticky Southern weather in my air conditioned car. As we drove north on Highway 12, we turn off the road 8 miles south of the town of Whalebone to visit the Bodie Island Lighthouse and Marshes. The Bodie Island Lighthouse is 156 feet high and unfortunely not open to climbing. A short, wooden, above-marsh trail offered picturesque views of the surrounding marshland.
