Guys. Slight hicup with our plans for getting to Gdansk on Thursday night. Arrived at the border crossing for Lithunia and Poland to find that JP had left his passport back at the hotel. Not great! After appologising to the border guards and saying "see you tomorrow" we set off back to Vilnuis. A fairly sombre 150 km of back tracking!

CM has been very good about it. JP takes says "sh#t happens... and then you eat a bag of it!" (footnote 1)

Heading to "Hitlers bunker" today in Northern Poland. Hitler apparently spent half of the war here and reputedly said it was one of the few places where he genuinely felt safe. Ironically then it was also the scene of where he came closest to losing his life! A group of high ranking german army officers, ploted an assination attempt. The idea was to remove hitler and negotiate a peace agreement with the allies for at that stage the war looked like being lost. Needless to say it backfired and everybody who was either directly or indirectly associated with the plot was executed. A total of 5000 people! The attempt killed 2 people and wounded a bunch of others. Hitler him self was only bruised and had a few scratches. He was well enough to see Musoulini later that day! JP and CM speculate that this could be the topic of the upcoming Tom Cruise film but this has yet to be confirmed.

Au voir,

JP and CM.

footnote 1. This is an adaptation of a t-shirt we saw in helsinki and since provided a staple source of abuse etc!
