the land of waffles, beer and tin tin
Started my busabout (jump on, jump off) tour in Paris and arrived in Bruges, Belgium. It's a gorgeous world heritage city, laced (ha! didn't even mean to use that pun... they have lots of lace there..) with canals, cobble stone streets, bridges, churches, gardens and houses with orange tiles on the roof. The canals are cleaned out once a year.... not because it's polluted, but because there are so many bikes down the bottom! The fault of drunken men apparently.
The main square has two 'french fries' shops that compete against each other for business everyday. They are both so popular that the owners only get to lease the stalls for a limited time eg. 1 year. Then it's someone elses go. The Belgians believe they invented french fries.. much like the french i believe. If anyone happens to be in Bruges in the near future, the chips on the right are the best! We sampled both.. just to be sure!
Bruges was so, so beautiful. I pretty much just wandered around the streets.. took lots of photos, drank belgian beer, ate belgian waffles and scoffed down the belgian chocolate. It was tough!
