Sudden storm coming in off the Adriatic
Today we headed to the beach today and suddenly the sky darkened, black clouds came streaming in overhead, thunder echoed off the mountains - Jugo! the cold wind from the south. We found ourselved huddled under the foam beach mat being pelted by the largest raindrops I've ever seen and marble-sized hail. It only lasted for 10 minutes but probably dropped a half an inch of cold rain. Minutes later is cleared and was warm again. We headed over to see if the rain had brought out the tortoises that live in the corner of a ladies garden down the street. Sure enough, two Hermann's tortoise were abling across the yard, headed back to their burrow under an agave. I saw a different mood of the sea that afternoon. The Yugo was cool, but not cold. It whipped up little waves and stirred the waters, bringing the cool, clear waters up from the depths. Summer was obviously soon coming to an end, we were a bit melancholy as the season and our vacation grew near.
