My first time in Addis Ababa was unexpected, Lufthansa had a strike, didn't want to pay the EU penalties and payed instead Ethiopian Airlines to drip it's passengers and take Lufthansa passengers instead. Instead of a flight at midnieght we where transfered to a hotel near the airport and given a quite awfull dinner (spaghetti too long cooked with a tastless sAuce) at 3 am and a not very good breakfast (choice of chinese noodles or cake, only tasting sweet) in the late morning. The room was not bad a bit faded, with a lot of place, but if i would have had to pay their regular price i would not have been satisfied (no international phonecalls even from the reception, no wifi only local television programms not in english...)
