Hyattsville is one of the many up-and-coming areas around Washington, DC. I've heard it was artsy, but I've yet to see any real sign of that. Hyattsville has put a lot of effort into renovating its downtown area, and it now has luxury apartments and a few cool stores and restaurants. The downtown area runs along a short section of its main street, and immediately surrounding it is the run-down Hyattsville we locals are used to seeing.

Should Tourists Visit Here?: No.
I don't currently see any reason for tourists to go out of their way to visit Hyattsville. Though Hyattsville is only 2 miles from Washington, DC, it doesn't have the character you can find in DC neighborhoods like Petworth.
