A meet-up that was long due

Haut Chocolate :D It had a map!!

Let’s go back in time, 3 years to be exact, when I was in Chicago, TB Vance contacted me stating that he is running a marathon there. We planned to meet up and I even planned to draw a poster saying, ‘Go Vance’, to cheer him up. Little did I know that I will relocate 2200 miles away to California just 10 days before the event!

Recently when I started writing my one and only blog about California I must have grabbed his attention again on the cool hikes I do at Yosemite. He intended to visit CA once in October but I was uncertain if I was relocating again. Finally in December I decided to plan for a trip without the fear of moving from the current city. Things are pretty slow at the end of the year and I was positive that our trip won’t be interrupted.

Good that I took the risk :)

In the meantime lots of emails were exchanged, camping gears were purchased. Vance asked me to be in charge of the trip planning since he was very busy. I made two rough itineraries and asked him to pick one. He picked the one I preferred too….talk about like minded people! In no time 26th Dec. arrived, so did Vance’s flight. Vance was planning to wear his Piggly-Wiggly hat at the airport to be recognizable but I have seen hundreds of his pictures in TB in the last 5 years so I dismissed the idea. Sure enough we had no difficulty recognizing each other. We wasted no time for introduction for two reasons: the cops were about to kick me out of the no-parking loading zone and we didn’t feel the need for it! He brought me a fancy box of chocolate from Isle Au Haut, Maine which was very thoughtful.

Our actual road trip started on 27th Dec. but I added few photos from each place we visited. More will come as I write each entry. For now enjoy the trailer!

Congratulations Sima on your featured blog! I would be interested to do the "Vance tour" as well, hopefully if I get to Central CA again in summer 2017.
