Blenheim Palace. Home of Winston Churchill

We board our bus and head to Blenheim Palace. Blenheim Palace is just a short trip outside of Oxford. You pull and drive through the gates. You see this great place at the end of a gravel drive. There is a black gate with gold accents. On the left hand side of the gravel there is a LARGE tent with a bunch of classic cars. On the right side there are rolling hills and a large body of water with a tree covered island in the center. The property is a beautiful shade of green. We were lucky we had a couple of hours there. We file off the the bus to this extremely overcast cool day with the occasional gust of wind. There are couples and families picnicing all around the grounds. We follow our guide Heather around the side of the palace.

This is one of the trees that line the bank of the river. This tree was used in the 5th Hary Potter
There is a walking trail around the palace and see this grand stone bridge over the river. We follow it around and down and over the bridge. The sweet smell of fresh cut grass is in the air as the huge mowers pass us on both side. After the cross the bridge there is an electric fence with these little sheep feeding and they watch us as we pass. Just beyond there are they great trees that look like they came out of a haunted forest. They look like the have faces that watch you as you walk by. We head a little further down the trail and there is a little gate and that is were we are heading. Through the gate and watch your step. There are hidden treasures in that grass. A little hike down to the river edge and we are looking up at this amazing work of mothe nature. This tree is HUGE enough to fit a person in it.

Soon the rain started to sprinkle down on us. We headed back up toward the Palace. We decided to go out to the garden and play in the maze. The stormy sky decided to clear and make this an enjoyable day. After a short ride to the train and we were at the gardens. There was a 6 foot maze to the left. It was like being a kid again. Run here and there tryind to fun our way through the maze. The some of the group split in to two groups and started playing wizards chess with one of the two lifesize chess board. Before we knew it it was time to head back to the buses. I truly regret not going to into the Palace. It was a beautiful building. We head back to Oxford. We arrive back at Oxford in time to get changed and head for the Eagle and Child for dinner with a group we spoke with on Chatzy. After dinner we head to the Phoenix theater to view Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was an amazing movie. Then back to the room to pack and get ready to leave Oxford for the London Gatwick Airport to fly to Scotland.
