The started off great. I rise and go down to the hotel resturant for the buffet breakfast. Then some of us from the tour take a stroll of up the royal mile. We would pop in and out of the shops looking for little gifts to add to our already overflowing suitcases. This is the last day of the tour. We have lunch on our own. We head back to the hotel for a quick swim and a nap before we start getting ready for the evening festivities. At 530 pm we meet our group in the hotel lobby before we head up the Royal Mile to the Castle for the Farewell Banquet. We are all dressed into some magical characters from the Harry Potter series. For people to walk down (or up in this case) in the middle of July in capes and funny wigs is one thing, in Edinburgh it did not phase anyone.

There were a few people who did point and take pictures. We went up to the castle, where all the tours had gathered to await the beginning of the party. We are greeted by a bagpiper at the castle entrance. It was eerie to see a bagpiper in traditional scottish dress standing next to a you man in military dress holding a machine gun. It just reminds you that no place is safe and this world is at war. We are led up the cobblestone road through the castle gate around the castle into the main square of the castle. We all gathered and talked. All the kids where running around with wands in hand. A little while later we were seperated into two groups for dinner. We were taken down to a dinning room that over looked the city. We served the same menu that was served to J.K. Rowling when she held the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in July 2005.
We had Sausage, Chicken, Steak, Potatoes, veggies. We where served the greatest desserts, Eclairs, Donuts, berry cream dessert and Green Jello with gummi worms on top. We had a bunch of fun, telling stories and took pictures. All of those who had birthdays during the trip were sang happy birthday to and then presented with a collector pack of stamps that where release the same day, Released on Erin and my Birthday. After dinner we went back up to the main part of the castle and Dance the night away. I called my family as the sun was setting on Edinburgh so they would wish me happy birthday. After awhile the groups started to brake off from the group and start heading back to their hotels. Some of us in all of our costumed glory made it down to Decon Brodies bar for a few more drinks. It was short lived back the bar stops serving drinks at midnight. Around midnight me and two of the gibson girls head down to the hotel. It was great hear a violinist play in the night breeze. It was also sad that this was the last night of our trip.
