On to Switzerland

The scenery was green and beautiful, even in the rain.

Another day on the bus, and this time in the rain. Breakfast was cereal again, hard-boiled egg and coffee.  Today we go to Lugano, and on to Lucerne, Switzerland.  Lugano was our lunch break.  Note: Burger King gets 6.90 euros for a Whopper!  We walked several blocks off the main street and ate pizza and ice cream cones.  A little time to window shop but in the rain we didn't take many pictures.

The Gotthard Pass, at 6,935 feet in height, is only open a very few months of the year so they drilled an eleven mile tunnel through the mountain. Many other tunnels as long as six miles long on the drive also. Of course, not much in the scenery catagory while deep in a tunnel, but at least the rain stopped for us. :)

We arrived at Luzern, Switzerland at about 4:30pm.  Time to check in, relax and read about the area before dinner.  Filet of Sole for dinner at the hotel was not too bad.  Tonight we are at the Grand Hotel Europe.  Sounds fancier than it really is, but a nice hotel anyway.
