Up early today for our first day with the new tour. Same putz food. On the bus at 8am for Hampton Court Palace's Gardens where many good pictures await. And we are allowed enough time so slowly stroll the grounds and take as many pictures as we wish.
Next a stop in Salisbury were we decide to pass on the cathedral and just stroll into town for change. Good thing we did because we found a small craft store. The wooden, handcarved Hummingbirds were special and we couldn't pass them up. My wife has had a collection of hummingbird items for the past 25 years and these were by far a "can't pass up".
Next stop, Stonehenge. About an hour to stroll the area with a recorded handset and listen to the information.
Then on to Bath were we get to take in the "Roman Baths". Again we listen to prerecorded handsets which give much more information than the average person wants or needs, while walking a preset step-by-step tour with a thousand others who are trying see specific things which holds everyone else up. I did manage to get several pictures.
Outside of the Roman Baths is the local cathedral, and although we did not get a chance to see inside we did get to take several good pictures. The doors were magnificent. Hand carved wood of such detail. And the architecure included several souls climbing the facade of the cathedral and as they got higher they grew bigger wings.
Now on to Bristol, past several outstanding picture sights at high speed and without notice, while our new tour director rambles on about the history of upcoming cities. Tonight be have a toast with fellow travelers and the tour director before dinner at the Hotel. We are staying at the Jury's Doyle Hotel in Bristol, which seemed very nice. A nice dinner of appetizers, Chicken Breast with peppercorn sauce (wife had Penne pasta with spicy tomatoe sauce), Strawberry cheesecake for dessert. But I trade wife my cheesecake for the chocolate mints served with the coffee. We ate with a mother and adult daughter from New York state. Nice conversation.
The only bad entry of the day.... they broke one of the two wheels off of our large suitcase. Had to drag it the rest of the trip.
