Bristol to Waterford
Up about 6am and shower, dress and pack to move on. Breakfast in nothing special, but the coffee was good. Off to Cardiff where we stop about 9:45am for an hour stop. Our tour director didn't even mention the Castle almost across the street. We could see the wall, with a nice garden on this side, but had no idea it was there.
We continued along southern Wales coastline to Fishguard where we waited for nearly an hour and a half to board the ferry. The three and a half hour voyage across St. George's Channel was pretty boring and a little choppy that day.
Then on across Ireland to Waterford. The ride was not thrilling. Rolling countryside with no great picture opportuinites. We were nearly two hours late getting the the Hotel in Waterford. The Jury Hotel, which was fairly nice. Dinner was waiting for us, at 9pm and was a full 3 course, appetizer, choice of (cutery), and dessert. We had turkey breast, and lamb, mashed potatoesm, gravy, and vegtables. Dessert was Irish creme cheesecake. And it was delicious! Coffee afterwards. We sat with a retired couple from Florida and enjoyed good conversation.
To our room late and it was very hot, 79 degrees. No air conditioning, but they did bring us a fan and turned off the radiators. We opened the windows and layed on top of the covers for sleep.
The hotel overlooks the marina and is close walking distance to the main shopping area.
Our tour bus pulled in much later than the schedule had called for, but the staff handled the late arrival with ease and cordiality. Our dinner meal at the hotel was served without visible problems, and was very good.
Our room was clean and sizable and included all of the usually expected amenities except air conditioning. It was very warm while we were there and they did bring a fan for us to use.
