Dominica
Our stay at Sea Cliff Cottages is on Hodges Bay near Calibishie, which is fishing village on the east coast of the island. During our stay we were able to experience and enjoy Carnival which is a celebration held on the two days prior to Ash Wednesday. This included Jump-Up in both Portsmouth and Roseau and also the events in Carib Territory which I believe to be called Va-Val. During our stay we had intended to hike up to Boiling Lake but unfortunetly this area was closed due to recent earthquakes which had caused the lake to drain (We experienced a few quake tremmors during our stay). We found Calibishie to be a very friendly place, some beaches were unsuitable for swimming but they were beautiful. Hell's Gate Beach is a half mile west of town and looks out onto two striking rock columns which protrude from the sea.
During our stay we visited Emeral Pool which is at the base of a 40 Ft. waterfall. Trafalgar Falls, there are two separate waterfall here, which are breath taking. And we did a bit of whale watching.
Dominica is a beautiful island - this our second visit - and still so much to explore.
