The red centre of Australia

In the desert

The desert was beautiful, surprisingly green with bright red sands and clear blue sky. We had lunch on the lawn, then walked across the sand dunes, seeing the desert plants and birds, with Uluru peeking at us unexpectedly when we rounded corners. Just walking across the resort sanddune we saw Wedgetail Eagles, a Crimson Chat, Magpie Larks, Torresian Crows, Willie Wag-tails and Spinifex pigeons. We also saw two cute lizards, one of which ate termites very quickly, and the other of which was embarrassed of its bottom, camouflaging it deep red, so it became invisible against the sand.
