This time, the AIU provided a bus so that students could go to the oppening concert of the National Sports Competition, wich is being now held in Akita (in fact just across the road from AIU). It was in this Auditorium close do the train station, a very nice place for wich I have no pictures. There were 2 acts. First, a Gospel Choir (japanese), and then, a singer called Joelle (also japanese from Akita, but american father). Before the actual concert the performers went on stage for some sort of interview with the hostess of the show, who was dressed with some traditional Akita peasent suit. Well, it must have been at least a little bit funny, cause some people were laughing, but I couldn't fully understand what was going on.

Joelle
.. The Gospel Choir (didn't get the name) was good, even if some of the soloists had a very unclear english, though there were only 4 men in a group of around 20 people. Then Joelle came in, just with a pianist and guitarist. Her performance was mostly jazz standards (she sang one of my favourits "Moon River" from the Breakfeast at Tiffany's Soundtrack) and the two guys had also 2 solo moments. She has a good voice, great english, and, overall it was a good performance. For the encore she sat at the piano and sang the only japanese song of the evening. When we got back at AIU a party was going at the Lobby, it was Yemmy's birthday. Yemmy herself was very enthusiastic, but this party wasn't so wild as some former ones.

Well, the great news around is: the Japanese Crown Prince is coming for a visit at AIU!!!! Is there any chance I can take a picture?!
