Stretching between Břeclav, Lednice and Valtice, area covers almost 200 sq km.This complex, aptly dubbed "the Garden of Europe"in the 19th century, is the result of the acts of people and of nature. It is to the great credit of the Liechtenstein family that the complex came into being. Throughout six centuries, they have built chateaus, gardens, parks and lakes in the local estate. In 1996 the LedniceValtice Area was included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The dominant features of the complex are the Lednice and Valtice chateaus. Both structures are linked with eminent european artists (J. B. Carlone, F. Caratti, D. Martinelli, J. B. Fischer, J. Hardtmuth). Built in the spirit of the English Neo-Gothic style, the Lednice Chateau is more attractive for visitors, the largest crowd-puller being its Mannerist park with a number of small buildings.
