Do not arrive at Barcelona without booking a room!
I spent most of my first day runnning between information centres, feeling like a total idiot, and ended up in a sleezy and noisy, unwelcoming hostel. for 25 euros I had the pleasure of staying in an 11 people dormitody. The entire hostel had only 2 showers and 2 toilets which stank like hell.
A short guide to Barcelona information centers:
- Estacion Sants: Ask around and find the YHA (youth hostels) information and booking centre. Right to the left stands a Barcelona tourist information (they do not do booking).
- Placa Cataluña: In the center of that huge square there´s an underground information center. They sell tickets to museum, recommend attractions, etc, but only book accomodation for over 50 euros a night.
- Pleu Robert (Metro: Diagonal). Cataluña information center. Do not book accomodation but have information of all attractions around cataluña and are happy to give an advice.
