A Singapore guide according to me. Hope you find it helpful and interesting. The outfit I am wearing here are a Malay traditional costume.

My Singapore, My Home

Abdul Gafoor Mosque at Little India

My Singapore, My home. This tiny and beautiful island, only a dot on the world map are my beloved country. I have travelled the world and see quite alot but I have never feel so safe and free like in Singapore. A friend from Travbuddy persuaded me to write something about Singapore and of course I said Yes.Here it goes. Once a friend from Europe was worried about the humidity here, please do not worry, you will survive. I will try my best to tell you about Singapore the very best I can, I hope.

Singapore are very unique country in her own way, everybody speak english as english are the 1st language we learned in school. We also have our own version of English but that is another story. The road sign and informative board are all in English.

So for those english speaking people, you are relief, right? Singapore is a multi racial people and also languages, lots kind of food to try and we have many shopping centre here and traffic lights. Please do not compare Singapore with the neighbouring country, it is totally different and it is difficult to explain but I will try. Singapore is like a garden city or a city in a garden, does that make sense? anyway I am writing what I know and what I observed as a Singaporean. 1st thing you will notice when you come out of the airport, there are plants and trees everywhere.

I mentioned Singapore are multi racial society, the major race are the Malay, Chinese and Indian. Presently due to too many mix marriages, we have the new kind of Singaporean, the beautiful one.

You can imagine all the festival we celebrated here, during Ramadan, you can go to a bazaar at Geylang and Malay village, you can get food, cloth, shoes, curtains, everything and same for Chinese New year season, normally a month before the holiday, there have bazaar at Chinatown and for the Deepavalee, the Indian celebration, they have a bazaar at Little India in Serangoon Road, check the internet for the event, for sure you don't want to miss this as it is very happening and joyous event. During Christmas, we have a lightning competition at Orchard road, most all of the shopping centre decorate their building and try to show the best lighting and decoration, it is really beautiful and bright with lights but I hate to go there during this period because the traffic is always jam, I recommend that everyone take a MRT (our metro or underground train) and walk along Orchard Road.
Singapore MRT (metro/train) Map

Places to go in Singapore that I've been and recommended to any traveller or tourist. Here are some of them. I think we are the only country in the world that have two zoo, one for day time and one for night time, the day zoo are Zoological Garden and in the night, The night Safari and if you must ask, Yes the animal are in the cage. Sentosa Island, a recreational island with alot of things to see to name a few, Siloso beach, underwater aquarium, butterflies garden and a must see are the water musical fountain at night, amazing with lights and music, and also to climb the top of Merlion, you can see a beautiful view of the surrounding island and southern part of Singapore. Next Place are the botanical garden, it is a good way to spend your afternoon, you can walk and try to pronounce the name of trees and flowers that you never pronounce before.

Sri Veerama kaliamman Temple at Little India
There are two lakes and a nice open field where you can sit and have a picnic, and also a must see are the Orchird Garden, look for Vanda Miss Joaqium our country national flower. Last but not least, the Jurong bird park, must go! I loved birds, my favourite are the peacock, they are lovely, they know that they are beautiful and they flaunt it ;-) and they have a man-made waterfall, superb! Nice view.

Next stop, if you are a window shopper or natural born shopper, Singapore is a place to be. For cheap stuff , go to Mustafa Centre, they have mostly everything and they open 24hours, the 1st in Singapore. For electronic, you can go to Sim lim Square, I think they have about 6 stories of shop that sell from calculator, camera to computers, they accept all major credit cards ;-) Orchard Road you will get a different vibe, you can get Armani, Versace or Louis Vuitton there, original mind you! there are full of shopping centre along the road from the start to the end and if you come around June, we have 'the great Singapore sale', good luck! We open from 10am to 10pm, everyday of the year.

Inside the MRT

Now the best part, I like to talk about food, I loved spicy spicy food and place I recommended with my taste bud are Hajjah Maimunah at Joo Chiat and another branch near Jalan Sultan, they served a delicious malay and indonesian delicacies, I try to eat there at least once a month. Next, Banana leaf Apolo, the best Indian food I tried in the world, yes, in the world, very simple place but the food are superlicious, give it a try and then tell me that I am not lying. This two places I recommend are affordable. Must go! Newton Food circus, a food paradise, and recommended are the seafood, try stingray with chilli, black pepper crab and for dessert, try 'ice kacang'. The environment there are very carnival like, you can see most faces smile and please do not eat lunch before you go there.

Local Delicacies-Malay Food. Look at the Rendang! Yum Yum
You need a big stomach for that, and price? Not very expensive.

For night life, we have plenty for this small country. Name it what you want, we have it. Recommended 'waterholes' is St James Power House, please take a look at my review on this great night out and of course Zouk, an award winning party place.

I am not a guide but I am sure I know about my country. Sure I miss alot of some thing. I will add more in the future and keep it update. If you have any inquiry, please ask. I don't bite ;-P

''Doesn't mean there is no crime, there is no crime at all'', the police force crime prevention slogan in Singapore.

If you love to dance and enjoy a nice night out, this is the place. I really enjoyed it. One of the bar called Movida, for all Latin music lover, you can samba and salsa all night long.
This place is packed over weekend. Better to come early if not a queue will be very long. Extra information for airline crew or staff, you may enter free on weekdays by showing your airline ID but not on Friday or Saturday. The entrance fees are about 12USD per person. Apart from this bar, at the same place they have a few more other bars that play different kind of genre of music. You can choose what ever you fancy. I bet that your night will be full with smile.

Look at this site http://e-clubbing.com/Reviews-req-showcontent-id-67.html , enjoy!

This restaurant I recommend are affordable. Must go!' - That is what I wrote on my blog about this restaurant. You are going to eat on a banana leaf. You can use your hand or they can give you a fork and spoon. The waiters are ever ready smile, friendly and the food they serve very fast. I recommend to try are the massala prawn and curry chicken with briyani rice. I bet you will ask for more. If you are in Singapore or coming here, I can take you to the restaurant. The location of this place is in Serangoon also called “Little India”. Enough said, making me hungry now. Good luck trying! Bon Appetite, J
