Me and Scott got up to take the train into Rutherford to bring the Pathfinder back to get all the luggage. I was running late of course, so we had to run thru the station (again) to make our connections...finally made it and we did take the time to eat a Dunkin' Donut in Rutherfored before heading back into Manhattan!
Driving into Manhattan is an experience...I though Scott was surely going to smack a few cars along the way, but it is really cool coming up out of Lincoln Tunnel into the middle of tall buildings and hustle and bustle that characterizes New York City! It's an exciting experience!
The students actually had all their stuff packed and down on the street waiting for us, so we loaded up and Scott checked out of the apartment. Scott and I drive back to Rutherford and the others head down to Battery Park for one more look at the Statue of Liberty.
In Battery Park, there are always lots of street vendor selling everything from T shirts to paintings, and of course, the famous designer bag knock-offs! There are also street performers. We watched one troupe that performed acrobatics and comedy...interesting combo...
Everyone scattered at that point to see a few other spots before leaving. Me, Scott, Rach, David and Hannah explored SoHo, NYU and Washington Square. Near Washington Square, they had several blocks roped off for a street fair. There were booths selling everything from art to clothes and booths that sold food, from cannolli to shish-kabobs.
Well, it was time to say good bye to the Big Apple...everyone was sad, but at this point, ready to just be home....we did not know that it would take us 22 hours to get back!
